Who Told You That? A Message of Hope for Those Hurt by Words
This blog post draws from my recent YouTube video on the power of words. I hope it encourages and equips you to speak life and truth, setting yourself up for God's best in your life.
Introduction
Hey everyone, it’s Jeromiah Emanuel. Thank you so much for joining me for another blog post from Born To Win Ministries. Today, I want to talk about the power of words—how they can set us up for success or set us back. We’ll explore how words affect us personally and look at some examples from the Bible where words have played a crucial role.
The Impact of Words
We've all been hurt by words at some point in our lives. People might have spread rumors, lied, or made assumptions about us, causing deep emotional wounds. While I can’t personally apologize for those who have hurt you, I want to share God’s heart with you today. God reveals to heal, and my prayer is that through this message, you’ll find healing from old hurts and freedom to walk away from the negative words spoken over you.
The Creative Power of Words
In Genesis 1, we see the creative power of words. God spoke the world into existence. He said, "Let there be light," and there was light. God didn’t use His hands or snap His fingers; He used words. This shows us the immense power words carry. God saw what He spoke and declared it good, emphasizing that His words bring forth good and perfect things.
We Are Made in God’s Image
Genesis 1:26-28 tells us that God created mankind in His image and likeness, giving us dominion over the earth. This means we have the ability to use our words to create and shape our lives. Just as God’s words brought forth creation, our words can bring forth change in our circumstances.
The Deception of Words
In Genesis 3, we see the serpent deceiving Eve with words, leading to the fall of man. The serpent’s words caused doubt and fear, resulting in Adam and Eve hiding from God. This shows how negative words can lead us away from God’s truth and purpose for our lives.
Overcoming Negative Words
It’s crucial to align our words with God’s truth. James 1:17 reminds us that every good and perfect gift comes from God, who is unchanging. Negative words, whether from others or ourselves, can hold us back. But by speaking God’s truth, we can overcome these setbacks.
Personal Testimony
Let me share a personal story. Years ago, I was told by a career counselor that I was severely introverted and should pursue a career as an accountant. I accepted this label and began to identify as an introvert, avoiding people and even resenting them. But when I rededicated my life to God, He called me to ministry. His words of calling and purpose overcame the negative words I had believed about myself. Today, I am in full-time ministry, helping thousands of people.
Prayer for Freedom
I want to pray with you to break the power of any negative words spoken over you. Raise your hands and join me in this prayer:
“Father God, in Jesus' name, I thank you for this teaching and the opportunity to share your heart. I come into agreement with those listening and watching. We reject and condemn every negative word spoken against them. We declare those words powerless and nullified in Jesus' name. We release words of peace, love, and life. We thank you for healing and restoration in their lives. In Jesus' name, amen.”
Conclusion
If you’ve never accepted Jesus as your Savior, I invite you to do so now. Pray this simple prayer:
“Father God, in Jesus' name, I repent of my sins. I believe Jesus was born of a virgin, died on the cross, and rose again. I accept Him as my Lord and Savior. Thank you for forgiving me and giving me new life. In Jesus' name, amen.”
Welcome to the family of God! I encourage you to read the Bible, pray, and attend church regularly. Let me know about your decision and any breakthroughs you experience. Share this message with others so they too can know the love and power of God’s words.
God bless you, and have a wonderful day in Jesus' name.
